What final mile means here
Final mile is the last move in the route: from a warehouse or a cross-dock to the place the freight is actually used. That place might be a retail store, a job site, or a residence. The freight is often larger than a parcel. An appliance, a promotional display, or a piece of equipment may need a liftgate, an inside delivery, or an appointment with the person receiving it.
DOF Ground arranges those deliveries across the United States and Canada. The truck might be a straight truck with a liftgate, a cargo van, or a larger trailer when the piece requires it. We can quote the delivery and, when a truck is nearby, pick the freight up the same day. Tracking is part of the move, so you can tell your customer where the delivery stands.
What to tell us
- Whether the stop is a dock, a store, a job site, or a home.
- Whether the driver needs a liftgate, a threshold delivery, or a room-of-choice delivery.
- The appointment window, and what happens if the receiver is not there.
Long-haul truckload and LTL get the freight into the region. Final mile is the truck that finishes the job.
Not a parcel van
This is for freight that is too large or too awkward for a standard package route.
The stop matters
A home and a retail dock are priced differently. Liftgate and inside delivery are part of the quote, not a surprise after delivery.
Upstream
We can bring the freight in by truckload, LTL, or intermodal, then finish with final mile.
