Less-than-truckload

Ship a pallet or a partial load, and pay for the space you use.

Less-than-truckload

What less-than-truckload means here

Less-than-truckload, or LTL, is for freight that will not fill a trailer. Your pallets share the truck with other shipments. You pay for the space and the weight you use, not for an empty trailer.

DOF Ground moves LTL across all 50 states and Canada. We do not consolidate the freight. We arrange the shipment, and a live rate for a standard LTL move is available in Pioneer AI, so you can price it, book it, and track it without waiting on a callback. If the class, the density, or the accessorials are unusual, the team will price it with you.

When LTL is the right service

  • You are shipping a few pallets, not a full trailer.
  • The freight can be handled at a dock and does not need a dedicated truck.
  • You want a rate that follows the space you use.

Heavier partial shipments sometimes cost less as a volume or partial truckload than as classic LTL. Tell us the weight, the dimensions, and the freight class, and we will say which one fits. If you are not sure of the class, send the product description and we will help you classify it before it is tendered.

Quote it live

Pioneer AI shows a live LTL rate, then lets you book and track the load in the same login.

What we need to price it

Origin, destination, pallet count, weight, dimensions, and freight class. Liftgate, residential, or limited-access delivery changes the rate.

When to switch modes

If the shipment is heavy enough, a partial truckload can beat LTL. If it fills the trailer, use full truckload.
