How we serve manufacturers
Manufacturing freight has two directions that both matter. Materials have to reach the plant before the line needs them. Finished goods have to leave for the customer or the distribution center on the day they were promised. DOF Ground covers both across the United States and Canada.
Inbound can be a full truckload from one supplier, an LTL pickup from several, or an intermodal container that started at a port. Outbound uses the same modes. When freight should be combined or held, our warehouses cross-dock and stage it. Repeating lanes belong on a contract rate. A missed part belongs on an expedited truck. A piece that will not fit a van belongs on a flatbed or a heavy-haul trailer.
- Multi-stop pickups when several suppliers feed one plant.
- Cross-dock and short-term storage when the plant cannot take the truck today.
- Rail and intermodal when the miles are long and the schedule allows it.
