What we haul on an open deck
Flatbed and open-deck service is for freight that cannot ride in a closed van. Construction materials, steel, lumber, machinery, and equipment are loaded by crane, forklift, or by driving the piece onto the trailer. The load is secured with chains or straps, and tarped when the weather or the product requires it.
DOF Ground arranges this freight across the United States and Canada, and into Mexico when the move is cross-border. Common trailers are a standard flatbed, a step deck for taller freight, and a double drop or lowboy when the height has to come down. If the piece is over the legal size or weight, it moves as heavy haul, with permits.
What we need from you
- Length, width, height, and weight, including any overhang.
- How it loads and unloads, and whether it can be driven or has to be lifted.
- Pickup and delivery addresses, including a job site that is not a dock.
- Whether it needs tarps, and whether it is oversize or overweight.
Rates change with the dimensions, the season, and the miles. Booking earlier in a busy season makes the trailer easier to cover.
